This guide will walk you through setting up a Zebra LP 2824 Plus thermal label printer to print labels from Heartland Retail via a LAN connection. This printer also supports connecting the printer via USB.
Connecting to the Printer
The Zebra LP 2824 Plus printer must be connected via ethernet cable to the same local area network (LAN) that the computers or POS stations that you plan to print from are connected to. This usually requires connecting the printer directly to the router via an ethernet cable.

Acquiring the Printer's IP Address
The printer's IP address can be determined by holding the feed button down until the light around it flashes once. Let go of the feed button. The printer will spit out labels containing lots of diagnostic information, including the IP Address
Installing the Printer
Open 'System Preferences' and select 'Printers & Scanners'
Click the '+' button and choose 'Add Printer or Scanner'
In the 'Address:' text field enter the ip address of the printer that was printed out earlier. Select 'HP Jetdirect - Socket' for the Protocol. In the 'Use' drop down select 'Select Software.'
Select the 'Zebra ZPL Label Printer' software. Click 'OK.'
Click 'Add' to add the printer. Your printer is now configured and ready to use!
Printing Labels
There are two important things to not about printing labels on OSX:
- You must print with the OSX System Printing dialog. Some browsers (Google Chrome for instance) come with their own print renderer for PDF documents. These renderers do not always print labels correctly.

Step 6: Name your printer to identify it this may include the label type your printing.
Step 7: Setup your Zebra's labels sizes.
You can choose from the sizes in the popup list or enter your own custom sizes.
You must add at least one size.
Step 8: Choose the application you are printing from.
If you want to print from a Website for example UPS you may need to extract your label for it to print correctly on your Zebra.

Step 9: Click Add Printer to add your Zebra printer to OSX.
That's it you can now print your labels.
